A homicide probe is under way into the death of a man found with fatal gunshot wounds in inner Melbourne.
An as-yet unidentified man was found at Langford Street in North Melbourne about 3.15am on Saturday.
He died at the scene.
“It’s a horrific incident. It’s something that none of us wanted to experience — police or the local community,” Detective Acting Inspector Alan Rumble said on Saturday morning.
Investigators have set up a crime scene around the area, close to a train line, a major road and a creek.
In a statement, Victoria Police said investigators were working to establish the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
No arrests have been made.
Anyone with relevant footage or who saw what happened has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
